Our Story
After suffering an injury in the army that led to his discharge, Kai had to navigate the DVA process on his own, with limited assistance from free advocate services. While the compensation he received helped cover basic medical expenses, he needed to return to the workforce and began working for the free advocate service that assisted him in the first place.
Learning more about the complications of the DVA process he realised that by following the basic level of advice that was given to him, his initial claim resulted in an outcome nowhere near what he had deserved. After taking the time to build a comprehensive Reassessment DVA Claim, he was successful in achieving the level of medical support and remuneration that he rightfully deserved in the first place.
He began helping mates that found themselves in similar situations, and soon word got around to Damon. Damon left the Army in the late 80s after years of dealing with injuries and received a small DVA compensation shortly after. 30 years later his injuries had only worsened and he had been covering the medical expenses at his own expense ever since.
Kai helped Damon realise what he was entitled to and they started working together on a reassessment claim that eventually resulted in a life-changing result for Damon that he never had thought he was eligible for. With Damon’s business experience and Kai’s DVA knowledge, they formed B&B Veterans Advocates, Australia’s first Veteran owned and run DVA Advocacy service.
